TEUI is the USDA\nForest Service's system of classifying ecosystem types and mapping ecological\nunits at different spatial scales. The system distinguishes among land areas\nthat differ in important biotic and abiotic factors, such as geology, climate,\nsoils, hydrology, and vegetation, creating mapping units based on geospatial\ndata. Maps and descriptions of ecological units are applied in land use\nplanning and management to describe land capability and identify suitability\nfor various uses.
